  Additional Details: 

  Tuition: Tuition is charged at a flat rate. Any credits over the base will be charged at the Division of Professional Studies rate.  

  One-Time Fees: Billed at the start of the program. 

  Tools and Laptop fees can be waived if the student already owns tools or a laptop that meets the program specs.

  Uniform Fee: Includes 5 uniforms per student.

  Exam Fee: Covers 3 written tests at $175 each. ������ϲʿ������ purchases vouchers for students to test at the end of the program. 

  Out-of-Pocket Expense: Students should budget an estimated $525 in addition to these above fees to cover the third-party  DME Fee for proctoring.

Common questions about the AMT Program at ������ϲʿ������

• What are the admission requirements for the AMT program?

  You need a high school diploma or equivalent. You do not need any prior experience or education in aviation but it can be beneficial.

• What kind of facilities and equipment will I use?

  ������ϲʿ������ has invested in a brand-new Aviation Education Center at the Johnstown Airport to house this program. It includes classrooms as well as a large hanger with fully equipped maintenance labs, a functional CRJ 200 regional aircraft, and aircraft components for hands-on training. 

• How often will I be on site as part of the AMT certificate program?

  Our AMT program is very hands-on. Our students in the AMT courses take in-person training courses Monday through Friday at our Aviation Education Center at the Johnstown Airport. 

• How long does it take to complete the program?

  The AMT program offers courses over five semesters, which can typically be completed in 21 months of full-time study. You can also earn an optional A.A.S degree within that same timeframe. View the curriculum.

• What credential(s) would I earn in this program?

  Successful completion of the certificate program provides you with your General, Airframe, and Powerplant certificate, which means you are prepared to test for your FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License. You can also choose to earn a college degree, Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.)in Specialized Services, with the addition of only four online courses along with your hands-on AMT training.

• Is the AMT certificate experience valuable outside of the aviation field? 

  Yes, an A&P License is a highly sought-after credential in many industries. 

• Who are the instructors for the AMT program?

  As a successful AMT graduate, you can pursue various positions in and outside of the aviation industry, including aircraft maintenance technician, automotive technician, wind turbine technician, elevator installer and repairer, robotics technician, diesel technician, and railroad technician, among many more. 

• Is the program accredited?

  Yes, the AMT program is accredited and meets all the standards set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

• Are there financial aid options available for students?

  ������ϲʿ������ participates in Title IV student financial aid programs, and eligible students can apply for federal financial aid. You are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid  (FAFSA) to help determine your potential student aid package.

• Can I transfer credits from another institution into the AMT program? 

  Yes, transfer credits are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We'll be happy to review your transcript and quickly evaluate your transfer credits. 

•   How does ������ϲʿ������ support students in the AMT program?

  As an AMT student, you will have access to a range of ������ϲʿ������ support services, including academic advising and student success coaches.

• Can I participate in on-campus activities (clubs, events) or attend sporting and other events?

  Yes. As a ������ϲʿ������ student in the AMT program, you can join clubs and honor societies and participate in other on-campus events and activities in nearby Loretto, PA. Our athletic teams compete at an NCAA Division I Athletics level, and we invite you to attend football and basketball games and any other sporting event to cheer on the Red Flash. You just need to show your Saint Francis student ID for student pricing.
